Highlighting our community health work in Southern California

The Kaiser Permanente Southern California 2022 Community Health Snapshot shows our dedication to building healthier communities.

We make a significant impact on improving community health by collaborating with community partners to address social factors and expand access to care.

The 2022 Kaiser Permanente Southern California Community Health Snapshot highlights our commitment to enhancing community health by addressing social factors that influence well-being and expanding access to care.

In 2022, Kaiser Permanente invested $906 million in our Southern California communities. The funding went toward our Medi-Cal recipients, charity care, health professions education, research, and initiatives focused on economic opportunity, housing, nutritious food, thriving schools, mental health, and the medical and social safety net. We work alongside community partners, public health colleagues, and our employees to improve community health.

Joining forces for a healthier future

Our community partnerships aim to reduce homelessness, support small businesses, enhance financial health, and promote resilient schools. We strengthen the medical safety net for patients who lack access to medical care by connecting them with community resources. By collaborating with community partners, we make a significant impact on community well-being.

Here is some key information about our work in Southern California from the Community Health Snapshot:

  • Access to health care: We provided quality health care to 1,048,920 Medi-Cal patients.
  • Education and training: We allocated $55 million to support graduate medical education, health professions education, and training programs to equip future health care providers with necessary skills.
  • Opening in early 2024: The new Kaiser Permanente Watts Medical Office Building and the rebuilt Kaiser Permanente Watts Counseling and Learning Center demonstrate our commitment to health equity. These facilities will increase access to health care and educational services for this south Los Angeles community.

These community health initiatives reflect our commitment to making a tangible difference in the communities we serve. We invite you to read the 2022 Kaiser Permanente Southern California Community Health Snapshot for more details and inspiring highlights of positive change.
